Description: 
The Florida District of the Gulf Islands National Seashore is located along Florida’s Emerald Coast featuring 20 miles of pristine coastal beaches and sand dunes on an offshore barrier island. The island is comprised of white quartz sand that is so fine and pure it squeaks under your feet. This photo was taken along the seven mile stretch between Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach.

Artist Note: 
As a native to Florida’s Emerald Coast, the pristine white beaches along Destin and Okaloosa Island were home to me, and is where so many of my wonderful childhood memories were created. Years later, after Destin and Okaloosa Island was discovered and developed, it became more difficult to find the pristine beaches and sand dunes that I so cherished as a child. I moved to Navarre over 30 years ago, and the one thing that has kept me here is the Gulf Islands National Seashore that is adjacent to Navarre Beach. Gulf Islands National Seashore is now one of the only places along the Emerald Coast where I can find the unspoiled beaches and sand dunes that I enjoyed as a child.  This is why I visit “The Seashore” frequently with my camera – each photo I take is like a snapshot of a childhood memory…  It is my “Sweet Serenity.”
