Up until April of 2019 I’ve sold mostly open edition prints; however, after several customer inquiries, I began reserving a few of my favorite photos to be sold as limited edition prints as part of my Collector’s Edition series. I have selected these images for various reasons - some of the locations may be special to me, or it was the challenge of capturing the image, the weather conditions or lighting were rare and unique, maybe it took a lot of physical effort and sacrifice to be in the “right place at the right time,” or, maybe, there’s a great story behind the photo. Regardless of the reason, I have a special bond with this series and consider them some of my most prized photos. These are just the beginning of my Collecor's Edition photo gallery, and will be adding more in the near future!
Each of the photographs are printed in very limited quantities using the highest quality print media and methods available today. They are available on archival quality fine art papers and a ready-to-hang museum quality Acrylic.
NOTE: Due to the unavailability of Fuji Flex Crystal Archive, all Collector Edition Acrylics will be printed on Lumachrome TruLife HD Acrylic... and to be honest Lumachrome is as high, if not higher, quality medium as Fuji Flex Crystal Archive.
The fine art paper prints are offered in two sizes (20”x13” or 30”x20”) and limited to only 50 prints total. I personally tested each image on different fine art papers and have selected only two photo papers that I believe compliment my photographic artwork the best in regards to contrast, vibrance, tonality, and detail retention. The two papers that stand out, in my opinion, are Hahnemühle Photo Rag® and Hahnemühle Baryta FB. (See descriptions below)
Paper: Hahnemühle Photo Rag®
The highest quality, archival white cotton artist’s paper, with its characteristic, wonderfully soft feel, boasts a lightly defined felt structure, lending each artwork a three-dimensional appearance and impressive pictorial depth. Hahnemühle Photo Rag® combined with the matt premium inkjet coating, this paper produces outstanding prints that feature brilliant colors, deep blacks, striking contrasts and perfect reproduction of detail. This acid- and lignin-free classic meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance and is specially designed for Fine Art applications.
Paper: Hahnemühle Baryta FB
The highest quality archival paper with a high gloss surface and a true barium sulphate coating, Baryta FB Paper from Hahnemuhle creates prints with outstanding color and contrast while giving the appearance of a traditional darkroom print. Made from 100% alpha cellulose, this paper features a heavy basis weight of 350 gsm and a thickness of 14.6 mil that provide a feel of quality. It is also bright with a rated whiteness of 104% through a moderate use of OBA content and has an opacity of 100%. Furthermore, the paper is acid free and calcium carbonate buffered for longevity and water resistant.
For the art collector enthusiast who is looking for the finest museum quality art, this collector’s edition series is available on TruLife®Acrylic Acrylic face mounted prints. These are offered in three large ready-to-hang sizes and limited to only 25 prints in total. (Below is a description of these “You have to see it appreciate it!” print medium)
Lumachrome TruLife HD Acrylic / or Fuji Flex Crystal Archive - Ready to Hang!
(NOTE: Due to the unavailability of Fuji Flex Crystal Archive, all Collector Edition Acrylics will be printed on Lumachrome TruLife HD Acrylic)
The most incredible gallery quality finished pieces available today. These are original HD photo prints under TruLife®Acrylic glass. The museum quality pieces are produced using the best available materials in the world today and are my top recommendation to my clients.
This fine art process begins by producing a photographic print which is face mounted to a sheet of crystal clear, scratch resistant, and non-reflective TruLife®Acrylic. It captures details with lifelike colors, incredible depth, and clarity for the highest-resolution viewing experience possible. Under the right lighting, the resulting print has a depth to it that provides the viewer the illusion of standing in the scene experiencing it with their own eyes; it really needs to be seen to be appreciated – the 3D color and details appear to pop off the wall!
It is the beautiful tonal range, long-lasting colors, unbelievable 3D depth & dimensionality that makes these TruLife® HD Acrylic stand out as the superior print medium of today. The quality that makes these acrylic prints stand out is the illustrious look that begs to be shown off as the centerpiece in your home or office.
Certificate of Authenticity Each of the fine art paper prints are personally signed and numbered, and will come with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that includes a photo "Description", "Artist Note", and all the technical details of the print media. Because of the printing process of the Lumachrome Acrylics, the signature and series number will be digitally imbedded into the image. In addition, each art piece is given a unique serial number identified by a holographic label that is affixed to the back of the print and a matching holographic label affixed to the COA. This ensures that you have the authentic (and matching) COA that belongs to your valuable print.
Pricing Each collector’s edition photo will be offered in three pricing tiers based on quantities sold and the popularity of the piece.
Each piece will begin with Tier 1 pricing in the following mediums and sizes:
20” x 13” Fine Art Paper Print
30” x 20” Fine Art Paper Print
36” x 24” Lumachrome HD Acrylic
45” x 30” Lumachrome HD Acrylic
54” x 36” Lumachrome HD Acrylic (or larger)
As each piece reaches a specific quantity sold over time, it’s pricing will increase to Tier 2 pricing, and again to Tier 3 pricing. The pricing for each tier will be determined at the time the piece is upgraded to the next tier. Tier 3 will generally be reached when there are only 5-10 pieces remaining in the edition. Because they are being offered in low quantity editions, the price increase for each tier can be dramatic. Once sold out, the piece will be permanently retired and will not be printed again as fine art. The first printing (including artist proofs) of each edition will usually be retained for Waldorff Photography’s private collection, which may or may not be offered for sale in the future.
