I couldn’t sleep during an early April morning, so I decided “What the heck, I might as well get up and go capture some stars!” I arrived at Pensacola Beach at about 3am; took some test shots of the Milky Way and waited for the crescent moon to rise underneath it. The air was clear and cool - perfect conditions for Astrophotography. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the moon so clear and red as it popped up over the horizon. I quickly swapped out my wide-angle lens for a longer lens to capture the moon in order to blend it with the wide angle shot I just took seconds earlier - otherwise the moon will be nothing but a tiny dot in the final photo. I try to scale everything to how my eyes sees it... anyway, I’m sure glad I had a sleepless night!
